PokerDome Shut Down in Vegas
It was confirmed that the $12 million high tech PokerDome located in downtown Las Vegas would be shut down following Mansion Poker's exit from the US market.
The Las Vegas Mall, which resembles a ghost town, said that Fox Sports had been released of its contract. Fox Sports broadcast the television show in which Rodel Tuazon won over $1 million in the Poker Dome Challenge and Gavin Smith collected $500 000 in the World Pro-Am Challenge.
Both Mansion and Fox Sports had originally planned to televise 43 events a year from the complex, which featured among other things LED displays for the dealer button and players' pulse rates monitored in high-pressure situations.
Mansion left the US market a few months after passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. They were one of the few privately held companies to do so.
