Gaming industry worth $144 billion by 2011
A new report by PricewaterhouseCoopers estimates that the global gaming industry will be worth as much as $144 billion by 2011. According to the paper, the growth will be driven by the wave of new casinos being developed across the world, mainly
in the Asia/Pacific region.
China will head the group with an expected 15.7 per cent increase in revenue to $30.3 billion. Revenue in the US is expected to grow by 6.7 per cent a year, to $79.6 billion in 2011, and maintain its status as the world’s largest casino market.
Gambling revenue in the regions of Europe, the Middle East and Africa will see a somewhat smaller increase of 1.9 per cent, rising from $25.2 billion to $27.8 billion.
